In this 150th anniversary year of his death, GCU presents Rossini’s final masterpiece, the Petite Messe Solennelle. Written for a quirky accompaniment of two pianos and harmonium, it is neither “small” in duration nor very “solemn”, but rather quite long and always operatically entertaining. In 1987, GCU sang the first performance of Weathers, a companion piece for the Rossini, specially written for the choir by the popular singer, pianist, composer and entertainer, Peter Skellern. Sadly, Peter died last year, and GCU dedicates this concert to him in loving memory
